A Reflection Upon Class

Wow, the end of the class. It is saddening, but I don't mind. I had tons of fun and the class was really good. All the projects we did were interesting and fun. Only issue would have been the whole confusion on what the next project was or if there was one. But this was minor compared to the overall fun and good times of the class. I met some really cool people and had tons of fun. So to all the people in the class great times were had!

Things that would have been cool:
Video based learning (Youtube education page)
Learn about some other technologies that can be used in education such as, open-source programs, social networking sites, and others.

Seeya Professor G. It's been fun and hope to you again sometime while I frequent the Education building.

Twitter Twitter!

Every hear a noise that sounded like a bird but was not? You may have been hearing "twitter". In the recent past Twitter hs been gaining ground in the online world as a quick and easy message sender. If one is inclined they may let the world know they have just finished reading the last novel in a series or finished thier shower. That's Twitter. It is a very simple and very friendly time waster. Personally I see need for it but then again the majority of people I talk to are around me long enough for to tell them all I feel they should know. Now, I'm not say Twitter is bad. In fact I like the idea of news companies and even the President himself using Twitter. It gives you quick and easy updates on stuff you want to know about. So in short you'll either like or not.

ACCESS the awesome

ACCESS is a state funded program in which one school connects to other schools in an attempt to further students education by offering different classes. The program introduces various elements that are helpful and useful to students and teachers. One of these things is the video conferencing. This allows people to connect across the state that would not normally be able to. Something else is online classes. Here you never meet the teacher, just interact with them through the internet.

In short, ACCESS is a wonderful thing. I personally have experience with it. It was a very fun, intuitive learning opportunity.

ALEX and what it is....

First off ALEX stands for: Alabama Learning Exchange. All this means is gives you the opportunity to exchange information and learn new things. ALEX has many different functions for anyone who would like to try it.
  1. Starting off, one of their features would be Courses of Study. This section of the site allows you to go and browse the classes they offer and then see what each individual course has to offer. For instance, the biology course
  2. Second we have Web Links. These are useful links to various sites for teachers, students, and even administers. Again we see that the science link takes us to a list of various online resources that are good science links to know and have handy.
  3. The next resource is the Lesson Plans. This link takes you to a check list of various things one would need to shrink their final search results. For instance by clicking, 11th grade, science, biology, I was given a large list of biology lesson plans that could be used.
  4. Next we have the Search function. Here can search various things on the site if we know what we want. Once I searched biology and got this. A nice list of resources made by teachers and Thinkfinity.
  5. The fifth thing is a personal space for personal workspace.
  6. Sixth would be Professional Learning which leads to a page that contains various ways to find professional development opportunities, teaching and learning tools, the latest news, best practices and more
  7. Seven is Distance Learning which is a state wide program that connects students and teachers all across Alabama.
  8. Lastly we have the Help page which is generally speaking there to help you.
For what this website has to offer to truly is a great asset to both teachers and students. If I was to rate this site on a scale of 1 through 10 I would rate it 9.5/10. The only issues I may have is it can be a little overwhelming. Other than that it is a great site for all who use it.
